Kyle Hein

“Never follow a leader who hasn't been through your struggles and back”

Kyle Hein is a recovery coach with 15 years in law enforcement and over a decade of personal transformation work. His approach to mental fitness comes from lived experience—navigating addiction, profound loss, and the mental warfare of high-pressure service. 

He teaches what saved his life: mindset transformation, ownership work, and the practice of moving from armor to authenticity. His philosophy challenges traditional strength narratives: You don't heal by trying harder. You heal by going softer. Not soft. Softer.

His raw, direct coaching style forces members to do uncomfortable work: identifying limiting beliefs, challenging self-deception, and installing daily practices that create lasting change. These qualities of his are non-negotiable attributes needed for success at The Waypoint Academy's Gym for the Brain.

Drawing from AA recovery principles, meditation, and spiritual practice, Kyle ensures members don't just gain insight—they build sustainable mental fitness.

Kyle's transformation mirrors the work he teaches. After hitting rock bottom and admitting he couldn't do it alone, he rebuilt from hypervigilant and emotionally armored to grounded and present.

Jocelyn Birkhimer

“Experience is not always the best teacher—evaluated experience is”

Jocelyn Birkhimer, MA.Ed., is an Empowerment Coach who specializes in nervous system regulation and trauma-informed healing for high-performing professionals. She holds a BA in Linguistics from UC San Diego and an M.Ed. in School Leadership from Ashford University. 

Her approach integrates somatic practices, energetic alignment, NLP, breathwork, and regulation techniques—the exact methods she used to heal herself from ailments doctors labeled "permanent" for a decade. 

She evaluated and turned her inner regulation into external results: better sleep, calmer decisions, stronger relationships, and sustainable performance.

Drawing from social-emotional learning, behavior therapy, yoga, and regulation practices, Jocelyn teaches members how to regulate their nervous systems, break people-pleasing cycles, and build clarity without burnout.
